The Moment

010 / 020

A moment does not announce itself. It has already happened by the time you recognize it. The Moment rises from a single point and immediately divides. Two paths, the same origin, neither one complete without the other. The walnut carries warmth that the charred edges interrupt. That interruption is accurate. What makes a moment matter is precisely that it cannot be held.

The black marble does not belong to time. Everything above it does.

Studio note

Alberto Palomino — Montréal, November 2025

The Moment began as a single trunk and split. I did not plan the division — I was working the walnut and felt it wanted to separate, to send two paths upward from the same root. The charred edges came from that same logic: a moment is not smooth. It arrives with urgency, with edges, with the specific texture of something that will not last. The black marble anchors the whole form at ground level so that everything above it can move without apology.
