The Core

011 / 020

Strip everything away. The roles, the armor, the performance of being a person. What is left is not clean. It is not simple. The Core shows a figure that has been reduced to its structure and discovered that structure is more complex than anything worn over it. Hollow at the center not from emptiness but from excavation.

The denim on the floor is not staging. It is what was removed. What had to fall away before the figure could stand in its actual form.

The white oak does not pretend. It holds the light without flattering it.

Studio note

Alberto Palomino — Montréal, December 2025

The Core is the only piece where the material is the argument. White oak, unfinished, almost raw — because what is left when everything is stripped away should not be polished. The figure is hollow at the center. That was not a structural decision. It was the only honest answer to the question the piece was asking. The denim at the base was Alberto's. Worn, discarded, real. What we shed to find out what remains underneath.
