A spear is not only a weapon. It is a line of intention made visible — one continuous motion from the hand that holds it to the point that reaches beyond reach.
The Spear is that line made solid. A single vertical form rising from a dark base, thinning as it climbs, carrying its own light at the point where matter becomes direction. It does not threaten. It simply goes farther than the body that released it.
Black walnut holds the warmth of the gesture without softening its edge. The glow at the tip is not added — it is the reason the form exists. The sculpture stands at the threshold between object and trajectory, between what is held and what has already left the hand.

The Spear came from a single sketch: a long diagonal line that refused to curve. I carved it from black walnut because the wood keeps its seriousness — it does not brighten under the light, it deepens. The base is narrow so the form appears to balance on its own intention rather than on mass. The light at the tip was the last decision and the most important one. Without it, the piece is a static shape. With it, the form becomes a motion arrested just before arrival.
