TheSummon
2024
Forged steel, blackened patina, brass inlay

N° 001 / 019
There is a difference between a being that answers a call and a being that is the call itself. The Summon does not depict someone who hears. It depicts the moment when hearing and moving become the same thing. When will is no longer separate from the body that carries it.
The gold marks the points of potential rupture. The places where everything could have stopped. And didn't.

The Summon began with a posture I couldn't explain. I knew the figure had to lean. Not fall, not bow, but reach toward something that didn't exist yet. The facets came from resistance: the wood refused the curves I imagined. It imposed its own planes. I spent four months understanding that this wasn't a limitation. It was the truth of the form. The gold points are not decoration. They are the places where tension accumulated until it became light.
